Sites around Shrewsbury, including parks and a recreation ground, could be bought by the town council for about 200,000 it was revealed today.
Shrewsbury Town Council is in talks to buy Monkmoor Recreation Ground from Shropshire Council and to take over the unitary-owned countryside unit, which covers the Shrewsbury area.
The move would see other sites including Reabrook Valley Country Park, Copthorne Park, and Burrs Field opposite the Quarry, also transferred to the town council. If a deal can be struck, the land could be transferred by April 1.
