I’ve always hated talking about life insurance, as my many people do. Being a single mother, I wanted to make sure that my children would be well taken care of in the event of my death. Choosing the right life insurance policy took some time. There are a lot of factors to be considered.
Whole Life or Term?
I wasn’t sure which way to go here until doing a little research and getting multiple quotes. Whole life insurance is definitely more expensive, although insurance policies seem to be fairly cheap at the moment across the board compared to previous years. I was worried that buying
whole life insurance would be unaffordable and leave me inadequately insured, which it most likely would have for the price. Buying a level term policy seemed to fit my needs and be realistic financially for my family. Life insurance isn’t something I wanted to be “cheap” about but reviewing whole life insurance closely, I found a lot of hidden fees.
Pushing Whole Life
I work in sales and work on straight commission myself, as do most sales people who are any good at actually selling their product. While it doesn’t make a sales rep anywhere near as much money to sell a term policy, they do make some commission on the sale. I understand pushing to get a sale but I do make sure that clients are aware of all fees and the fact that I am indeed making a commission instead of hourly pay.
